What are the conditions in the storage units in terms of climate?

All MyPlace - SelfStorage storage units are clean and dry. The inner units are always frost resistant. For the outer units this cannot be guaranteed - please ask our staff in the respective branch offices.

The fact that the contents in the units are not exposed to quick temperature changes is beneficial for the storage of furniture. In addition, the goods are usually stored in the dark and therefore do not bleach out.

How safe is a MyPlace storage unit?

MyPlace - SelfStorage customers secure their storage unit with an individual padlock that can be locked with an individual key. Every storage unit is surrounded by solid walls through which you cannot see, so that other people cannot see the contents of your storage unit.

In addition, the property is protected with a multi-levelled security concept. Individual access controls to the property with number codes, 24-hour video surveillance, our modern alarm system and our guards guarantee the highest degree of security.

Are the contents of my unit insured?

MyPlace - SelfStorage undertakes to insure all stored contents for the customer. Just like in a rental apartment, the tenant also must insure the content of his or her storage unit, while the “homeowner” insures the building.

You can organize the required insurance cover for the contents of your storage unit with your own home contents insurance or use the insurance offered by MyPlace - SelfStorage ( Storage unit insurance by the Donauversicherung.

This insurance costs 1.25 EUR per EUR 1,000 of the value of the goods for 4 weeks and insures the unit against fire, burglary, vandalism, water damages and natural disasters.

Our basic insurance covers stored items up to the value of 4,000 EUR. It costs EUR 5 for 4 weeks and offers comprehensive cover.  If you think that the insured sum is not sufficient, you may increase it: For every additional EUR 1,000 insured sum, another 1.25 EUR in premium is added.

How big are the storage units?

Every branch office has between 800 and 1,200 individual units in different sizes of 1 to 50 m², different shapes (mostly between 2.50 and 3 m in height).

There are also units between 50 and 200 m². If you need a specific size, please call us on our free hotline 0800 244 244 or call the branch office of your choice.

How do I calculate the space I need?

Most customers overestimate their spatial needs until actually stepping into a storage unit. This is why we recommend that you let our staff help you to figure out the actual size you need when visiting one of the branch offices, because this will save you money. Or, if you would like to have an estimate in advance, use our  place and price adviser.

For relocation, the following rule of thumb applies: A tenth of the surface of your apartment will be needed to store the contents of it.
